StimuSIL Unveils New Review on Non-Drug Treatments for Hair Loss
Delaware, US; August 2nd, 2024
StimuSIL is excited to announce StimuField, a new wearable entering their biomedical device pipeline. StimuField uses pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy to improve hair and scalp health. Their device is intended to be used by both men and women in the comfort of their homes or while going about their day.
What is PEMF?
Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy is a medical technology that’s most often used to help with bone healing, wound healing, and pain relief. It works by opening up the channels that allow calcium to enter cells. This triggers a series of events that helps reduce stress and inflammation in the body, making PEMF therapy extremely beneficial for regenerative medicine.
PEMF has been around since the 1950s, so modern-day PEMF devices are considered to be extremely safe. You can find large, high-powered PEMF therapy devices in hospitals and clinics, while low-powered tools, like PEMF mats, are usually sold online.
PEMF and Hair
In recent years, PEMF has also been shown to benefit skin and hair cells, making it beneficial in the fields of dermatology and aesthetics. When studied in cell cultures and animal models, PEMF has been shown to improve the growth rate of hair follicles and promote hair follicle regeneration. PEMF also directly supports hair growth by encouraging hair strands to grow longer and stronger, and improving overall hair density.
Research on the benefits of PEMF therapy is extensive, but only a handful of clinical studies have used PEMF to improve skin and hair health. However, existing studies have shown extremely positive results. If you’re interested in learning more about using PEMF for hair loss, check out StimuSIL’s recent publication, “Physical Treatments and Therapies for Androgenetic Alopecia“, in the Journal of Clinical Medicine. The review discusses and compares non-drug therapies used to treat pattern hair loss, including PEMF devices, laser hair therapy, and microneedling procedures.
StimuSIL is committed to developing cutting-edge medical devices to treat hair loss, improve hair health, and address related conditions. They are nearing the completion of their first clinical trial with SAGA-001 for male androgenetic alopecia and recently licensed technology to explore PEMF for hair growth. StimuSIL remains actively involved in advancing research and innovation in dermatology and aesthetic medicine.
